Easter Holidays | Kent Family Photographer
Jayne Nottage
We had a last minute break away over the Easter weekend. For any of you who know us, we have loved going to Het Vennenbos in Holland over the years (very like Centre Parcs but not so pricey). We even managed to drag along some cousins, and my brother and sister in law this time, which was glorious! As a documentary photographer leaving my camera behind was just not an option!
After leaving Het Ven we then tried something new and had a couple of nights on a boat. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit apprehensive, I mean what if it it sank in our sleep (I did check the Airbnb reviews and nobody had written 1 star: ‘we drowned’ so I thought we’d be ok 😆). But actually despite my fears (irrational and intrusive I know) it was really fun! The crazy warm weather definitely helped. The boat was docked (the whole time) in a city called Namur in Belgium and we had the day exploring (as well as trip to the local hospital as my youngest’s breathing, he has asthma, wasn’t great, ah the joys of family life!).
On the way home we stopped in another Belgium city, to break up the drive to Calais, in Mons. Lovely little city where we simply mooched around for the day.
Getting to capture my own family holidays in a documentary way just reminds me why I love photographing like this, as it simply tells our story. Rather than focusing on how we all look it focus’ on reminding us what we were all like, our personalities, quirks, and all the crazy activities we managed to cram in.
If you would love to capture some family memories in Kent, London or the South East then I would LOVE to help. Pop on over to my families page and find out more.
